How to conjugate dire, entendre, voir…

To conjugate the verb at the present time, take away the infinitive ending, for instance -ir :

partir → part-

2. Add those endings : – s, -s, -t/-d, -ons, -ez, -ent

je pars

tu pars

elle, il, on part

nous partons

vous partez

elles, ils partent

Exceptions:

Verbs ending in -endre and -ondre: like “entendre”, “fondre” have other endings:

-ds, -ds, -d, -ons, -ez, -ent

répondre (to answer)	Tu réponds à la question.	You answer the question.
étendre (to stretch, to hang out stg)	Il étend le linge.	He hangs out the laundry.
tondre (to mow)	Nous tondons la pelouse.	We mow the lawn.
fendre (to split)	Vous fendez des bûches de bois.	You (plural or polite) split wood logs.
pondre (to lay eggs)	Les poules pondent des oeufs.	The hens lay eggs.

Je veux un chocolat chaud. I want a hot chocolate.

Tu peux le faire ! You can do it !

Nous valons mieux que ça. We are worth better than this.

Some verbs use the same endings than the -er verbs : ouvrir(to open), offrir (to offer, to give stg as a present), cueillir (to gather; to pick), souffrir (to suffer)…

J’ouvre la porte. I open the door.

Tu offres des fleurs. You give flowers.

Elle cueille des fraises. She gathers strawberries.

Nous souffrons de plusieurs allergies. We are suffering of several allergies.
